AMY WOODFORDE-FINDEN

1860 --- 13th March 1919

This ia all I know of this composer.

Amy Woodforde-Finden ( Amelia Ward) was born in 1860 she was from a large family of 9 children, when her father
was killed, her mother moved the family to London.

It is around this  time that Amy displayed a skill for composition,  her first works she published as Amy Ward but her
composition made little impact on the listening public.

Amy was 34 before she married  a Lieutenant-Colonel Woodforde-Finden,  a soldier and surgeon ,  they lived in India
for several years, it was during this time that she wrote and published "The Lover in Damascus" and "Kashmiri Song"
published around 1902 by Boosey & Co. The popularity of Kashmiri Song  and The Lover in Damascus kept her  in the
hearts of her audience.

In the years that followed the success of her Kashmiri Song, Amy composed On Jhelum River, The Pagoda of Flowers
and Stars of the Desert.

In 1916 Amy suffered a great lost of her husband.

Amy only lived for another three years, she died March 1919. It is said that she died composing at the piano.

I have the original Boosey & Co sheet music of  Four Indian Love Lyrics published in 1903 and this  version reprinted
in 1913 which  I intend to turn  into midi files,  the first of which is below,  I hope you enjoy  as this is the  first one I
have done in over 10 years.
