He was Born in Manhattan, New York, in 1903, It was early on that his talent was recognised, he went to the Juilliard School of Music where he
studied with Rubin Goldmark,  and later entered the Curtis Institute of  Music in Philadelphia where he taught and studied with Jozef Hofmann,
until 1935.

Chasins began touring throughout the United States,  Canada, South America, and Europe performing both solo recitals,  and playing with major
orchestras,  in the late 1930's he had his own radio series. His former student Constance Keene became his wife in 1949, and they began to play
piano duo's and later they performed and recorded piano duos.

Chasins wrote over 100 compositions, which were mostly for the piano. His Three Chinese Pieces, which I have sequenced below, plus some others.
He also wrote a number of books on music and musicians. Chasins died of cancer at his home in Manhattan in 1987.
