): This is Hershey Kay's orchestration of Louis Moreau Gottschalk's Grand Tarantelle for piano and orchestra. Later it became the basis for the Cakewalk ballet. I've sequenced it for the Proteus 2 (orchestral parts) and a Korg P3 piano module. I play it on a multiport MIDI interface so I have no polyphony problems, but if you play it on a single synth with only 32-note polyphony you may experience some problems. Some notes: I've used various Proteus 2 French horn programs: 36 for soft horns, 37 for loud horns, and 38 for Section (mixed) horns. To keep it down to 16 channels I have the pizzicato and arco (bowed) Violas sharing a track, so you'll find program number changes embedded within the tracks (7 for arco, 15 for pizzicato). Since the Proteus 2's pizzicato strings are somewhat sonorous, I generally sequence them a degree softer than they are written (e.g. mp instead of mf; this is about 24 degrees of velocity on a 0-127 synth). --Gary Goldberg National Capital Amiga User's Group GaryG@ix.netcom.com
