For a full Bio on Sigmund Romberg please visit This website. Below is just a brief Bio.

Romberg was born in Hungary as Siegmund Rosenberg, in Nagykanizsa Hungary when it was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
he was very much influenced at a early age by his father,  and began studying the violin at 6 years old,  then went on to learn the piano
at around 8 years old. He became a member of the high school orchestra in 1897.   His parents wanted him to go into a sensible career,
so he went to Veinna to study engineering, but he also took the opportunity to study composition while there.

Romberg then decided his future was to be found in the U,S,A and in 1909,  he set sail to New York,   once there he would end up doing
menial work,   like a brief stint in a factory,   but he did managed to get a job working as a pianist in cafe's and restaurants.   By around
1911-12 he had organise his own orchestra and even had a few of his works published.   He then started to write music for the Shubert
brothers, in 1914 for their Broadway theatre shows.

Romberg composed some of his popular pieces in the 1920's and 1930's,  like The Student Prince in 1924,  The Desert Song in 1926,  (I
have sequence a selection of music from that piece below),   and Up in Central Park in 1945,  and he did many more.   A lot of Romberg
works were release on records after his death in 1951 until the 1960's.

Romberg died in 1951, aged 64, of a stroke in New York. He had been married twice. but had no children.
